The Power of Technology during Lock Down

In light of the national lockdown, Graceland Architects has set up remote work stations enabling our teams to work from home. Our belief in the power of technology to enhance workflow means we are able to take advantage of cloud services offered as part of the Autodesk BIM 360 platform.
All of our active BIM models have been securely uploaded to the Autodesk BIM 360 platform. The Graceland Architects teams access the models and continue producing high quality work for our clients, consultants and contractors. The process of remotely enabling our office was done in close collaboration with Modena, an Autodesk Gold Partner. Their efforts ensured a smooth transition to a remote environment.
We have set up several instant communication platforms that allow us to stay in touch with one another. Staying in touch informally has allowed us to remain positive through the lock down period as well as provide ad hoc communication for more serious technical questions to be discussed.
By working in the cloud we are able to help our clients mitigate lost time during the lock down period as well as assisting on-site contractors to regain lost productivity by providing them with information in advance.
The lockdown period has provided Graceland Architects with a perfect opportunity to understand individual workflow trends among the teams and find ways of incorporating these positive attributes into our post lockdown working environment.
Some of our current onsite Gauteng and North-West Province projects that have halted due to the lock down.
Hoogland Private Hospital identified the need for expansions to their Paediatric, Obstetric and Neo-natal Units. To achieve this growth, a new Medical Unit had to be constructed.
As 2020 draws to an end, Graceland Architects took the afternoon off to enjoy a different sort of creative outlet—ceramic painting, the afternoon was a well-deserved ending to a year that will go down in history.
To provide for the increasing healthcare needs of a growing agricultural town and its community, the Brits Hospital is undergoing a major expansion and transformation programme.
COVID-19 has resulted in an unprecedented response to Highly Infectious Disease outbreaks. Graceland Architects developed a primer outlining the efforts the company is making in understanding the design and construction of High Level Isolation Units and Bio-Safety Level 3 and Bio-Safety Level 4 laboratories.
Graceland Architects celebrated a well-deserved end-of-year function on 2019-11-28. Congratulations everyone. It has been an exciting year filled with surprises and new adventures. We wish all our clients, consultants and colleagues a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. We hope to see all of you back in 2020.
Graceland Architects understands the role it has to play in the provision of universal healthcare for all South Africans. Our understanding of the private and public healthcare sector has now been augmented with new knowledge of Healthcare Public Private Partnerships. An article published in the Mail and Guardian in July and a subsequent presentation at the Africa Healthcare Development Summit highlights our commitment to finding sustainable healthcare solutions for a uniquely South African context.
